Every year I make my own eggnog, because eggnog isn't available in Japan. At last, not for any reasonable price.
From a few years ago, because a friend of mine had an egg allergy, I've been making a vegan version. Turned out to taste better anyway.
I decided to make a fun label for it, and went with the name "Vegg Nogg," with two G's on both words so that it would be like a brand name.
Although it's tempting with anything Christmassy to go for a style as old as Dickens to evoke tradition, the eggnog packaging I saw when I was a kid was designed in the seventies or eighties, so something relatively more modern is what's nostalgic for me.
日本ではエッグノッグが手に入らない。正しくて、適切な値段で買えない。だから、毎年自分でエッグノッグを手で作っている。
数年前から、卵のアレルギーをもている友達がいるから、ヴィーガンのバージョンを作っていた。結局、いつものエッグノッグより美味しいになった。
そこで、楽しいラベルを作ることにした。名前は「Vegg Nogg」にして、両方の言葉に「G」を2つつけて、ブランド名のような感じにしてみた。
伝統を感じさせるために、クリスマスのものを世間並みにディケンズのような古いスタイルで行くだが、私が子供の頃にスーパーで見たエッグノッグのパッケージは70年代や80年代にデザインされていたので、比較的に現代的なものが私にとっては懐かしいなのだ。
